VISION & MISSION

Our goal is to create real-world outcomes: restored ecosystems, thriving microenterprises, and resilient livelihoods for those who live in and around the forests. This dual focus is crucial, as the preservation of natural capital must align with the socio-economic needs of those who depend on these resources.

Our Vision: I-CAN becomes the a leading hub in the Global South for addressing climate change through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and thereby making significant contributions toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Our Mission:
  1. Pioneer innovative, gender-equitable NbS approaches through applied interdisciplinary research: Develop cutting-edge, gender-equitable Nature-based Solutions by conducting practical, interdisciplinary in situ research that integrates diverse scientific perspectives and promotes environmental and socio-economic sustainability. 
  2. Mobilize research knowledge for practical applications and societal impact: Translate research knowledge into actionable solutions and initiatives to drive meaningful societal impact.  
  3. Build capacity and facilitate knowledge exchange: Facilitate collaboration and exchange of knowledge among researchers, policymakers, businesses, and communities regarding NbS policies and implementation. 
  4. Build partnerships, networks and collaboration: Collaborate with domestic and international research institutions, think tanks, and development organizations to harness a wide range of expertise and resources. 

KONTRIBUSI PENGETAHUAN

Berbagi perangkat, studi kasus, pengalaman lapangan, atau keahlian analitis untuk meningkatkan basis pengetahuan dan platform pembelajaran I-CAN. Kontribusi dapat mendukung pengembangan perangkat, materi pelatihan, ringkasan kebijakan, atau kerangka kerja pemantauan untuk restorasi lanskap hutan yang inklusif.

Collaborate with I-CAN researchers and affiliates by proposing a research topic aligned with our thematic priorities—such as inclusive forest governance, ecosystem restoration, carbon markets, or gender-responsive Nature-based Solutions. Joint research may include fieldwork, publications, and pilot demonstrations.
